My favorite character is probably Iago. I actually don’t really like him, I just like him better than anyone else. I still think he is a dirty, deceiving, rat. Iago is also slightly creepy. He just has more of a character and more of an impact than any of the other characters. Rodrigo doesn’t think for himself. He has hardly any personality at all. He is kind of pathetic the way he still loves Desdemona and follows every word that Iago says. Roderigo is blinded by Iago, and doesn’t realize how awfully he is actually treated. I wish he would stand up for himself instead of being so spineless. I see Desdemona as foolish. I don’t think she even truly loves Othello. She liked the idea of him being a decorated general and she was just being a rebellious teenager when she went against her father. I also don’t like how she flirts around with Iago and Cassio. If she didn’t act like that than Iago wouldn't have gotten an idea to tell Othello about Desdemona and Cassio, and maybe the ending would have turned out differently with fewer deaths. Othello, in my opinion is overrated. He is full of himself. He is a good general and he knows it. One little seed of doubt about his marriage and he overreacts. Othello never even found out if it was true or not. He just went on a murderous rampage. Cassio is also foolish for getting drunk like he did and then crying about it. And then there is Emilia. She doesn’t even have much of a part but she must be stupid to marry someone as vile as Iago. I have zero respect for any character in this book. Honestly, they all suck.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to read. I’m always reading and I read books in the summer for fun. And I don’t read those stupid teenage romance or friendship books.I read Dan Brown, L.S. Carroll, J.R.R Tolkien, Michael Crichton, and Markus Zusak. So I think I have a decent taste in books, but NEVER have I ever read a book that I have been less interested in. I just don’t like it. I don’t think Othello was a good choice for a bunch of sophomores.
